Roberta Oster

producer / WRITER / EDUCATOR

Roberta is an Emmy Award-winning journalist, communications professional, and educator. She is currently the Senior Producer of VPM News “Focal Point,” a weekly public television show framing statewide news through a lens of in-depth reporting on culture, politics, business, health, the environment, racial justice, science and the arts. The broadcast airs on VPM/PBS in Richmond and across central Virginia. Watch it here: vpm.org/focalpoint.

Roberta launched her journalism career in New York City where she worked for two decades as a producer for NBC “Dateline,” CBS, and ABC Network News. She also taught journalism at Tufts, Princeton, and Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

Prior to joining VPM, Roberta was Communications Director for the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy. She has also served as Associate Dean for External Relations at the University of Richmond School of Law and founded her own communications and leadership consulting firm.

Roberta holds an MPA from Harvard University Kennedy School of Government and a BS from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. She was awarded a Knight Professional Journalism Fellowship at Stanford University.
